Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha

I cringe every time I pay $5 for a drink, so I have taken it upon myself to figure out how to make my favorite drinks on my own. As you can tell they most often involve the work "mocha."

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 white chocolate square (the baker's kind you buy in a big block)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of brewed coffee
  • 2 TBS of Peppermint Mocha instant coffee (I used Maxwell House brand)
  • and Whipped Cream + a peppermint stick for garnish.
1.) Put the white chocolate and milk in a mug and heat in the microwave for 1 min 30 seconds.
2.) Mix chocolate and milk until mostly incorporated.
3.) Mix in the instant coffee powder as well as the brewed coffee.
4.) Stir well (candy canes make good swizzle sticks for this recipe) and top with whipped cream.

Enjoy :)

The Opal Engagement Ring

If you know me at all you know that I love vintage. So, it was not unusual that I spent the majority of my Saturday afternoon at the 23rd Street Antique mall. There were many treasures to be found there, but what really caught my eye was a case of antique wedding and engagement rings near the front. I was dazzled by the diamonds cut like I had never seen. I cannot describe their beauty accurately. Here is a picture of something similar to the ones I am thinking of:
Gorgeous, huh?!

And the best thing of all was that they had a diamond and opal one. The opals looked like little dew drops on a rose-gold branch. Now, I like diamonds, but I ADORE opals. When I saw this ring my mind went berserk! I started thinking crazy things. Like: "I wish I had a man that would buy me something like that!" ha ha, do all girls think this way? Maybe not super-feminist women. They probably would think "Forget men, I am going to buy this for myself! I deserve it!" And friends...I think I am almost there. I simply must have one.

Here is a picture of a ring that was very similar to the one I saw:

These are lovely too:

Bubble Bread

Bubble bread is easy to make and with a few adjustments can be made for any meal, even dessert!

Breakfast Bubble Bread:
 Ingredients:
  • Ham chunks
  • Cheese cubes
  • 1 can of Pillsbury French Loaf bread dough.
1.) Pull off about a golf ball sized ball of dough and wrap it around one ham or cheese chunk. Reshape into a ball.
2.) Place ball in the bottom of a greased loaf pan.
3.) Continue wrapping alternating between ham and cheese chunks until the pan is half full.
4.) Bake at 350 deg. for 30 mins.

Apple Cinnamon Bubble Bread:
Ingredients:
  • Apple Chunks
  • 1 TBSP Cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup Sugar
  • 2 TBSP Butter
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Milk
  • 1 can of Pillsbury French Loaf bread dough.
1.) Follow the same steps as before for wrapping the apple chunks
2.) After the dough balls are reshaped roll them in the cinnamon and sugar before putting into pan.
3.) Melt butter and mix with leftover cinnamon and sugar. Pour over loaf.
4.) Bake at 350 degrees for 30 mins.
5.) Mix powdered sugar and milk to make frosting and drizzle on top of cooled bread.

Mi Casa Es Su Casa.

People often tell me "I wish I had your life." I usually laugh and tell them that they really don't, but they have set in their minds some glamourous bohemian lifestyle free of worry and focused on the creative side of things. It often, and I hope I'm not shattering anyon'es dreams, isn't that way. However, I would like to introduce you to a new part of my blog that invites you to see a snapshot into the brighter side of things. Here it goes:

I truly believe that home is where the heart so, here's a sneek peek into mine-

My Reading Corner
I love bright colors and quirky vintage items. My style is above all whimsical. I like to think that I leave a little whimsy wherever I go :)
Most everything in my apartment is begged, borrowed, thrifted or crafted.
